I know this will be a silly, simple question for most of you, but please indulge me. I have an Aphex 1402 Bass Xciter. It states it can be powered with " +48V Phantom on the D.I. powers the unit!" What does that mean. What is Phantom Power (Casper the friendly ghost)? Thank you for your help.

Many mixing boards have the capability to send power out through their XLR mic inputs. That "phantom" power is generally intended to power certain types of microphones, but a few other devices have been designed to take advantage of it as well. So basically, if you are always running this pedal into a mixing board that features phantom power, you can leave the batteries at home. :)
