Aphex Punch Factory vs Eden WTDI

I'm pretty new to playing bass. I am waiting for my bass to come in as we speak. I ordered a Warwick Corvette $$ 5 string (german made, not the cheap one) and it should arrive in about 7 more weeks. In the mean time, I'm trying to decide what to do for effects. I have a Line 6 Bass Pod XT Pro and I'm thinking about getting rid of it. My thoughts are that I'm going to have a good quality bass and I don't want the Line 6 to take away from what the Warwick is. My playing style is so far pretty basic. I'm mostly playing praise & worship as well as some country and rock. All I really want is some good compression.

I'm looking at the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. At this time, I don't play through an amp. I simply run direct so between the Warwick, a cable and a pedel, that'll pretty much be my rig. I like the fact that both have direct out. The Eden is a DI that ALSO has compression so my concern is as to how good the compressor really is and since my main goal is compression, I hate to get the Eden and be dissapointed. So many multi-purpose pedels are REALLY GOOD at one thing and then do a couple of other things not as good and that's my fear with the Eden.

One pro about the Aphex Punch Factory is that it can run off of phantom power. Not sure about the Eden WTDI.

Do any of y'all have any experience with either or both of these products? Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Your answer depends on what you are looking for, if you want just a compressor I think there are better ones out there for the same price. Bongo has a review on it...and it comes out so-so.

With the Eden you basically get a cabinet head on the floor with a footswitch. Personally, if you are going to be traveling or using various amp/cab combos and want the ability to EQ your sound then you want something more like the WTDI. The compressor has a fixed compression ratio (not sure on what exactly it is). I've tried it and its fairly transparent, but you get your tonal adjustment from the bass/mid/treble knobs with the bonus "Enhance" know (basically a boost/adjustment for certain frequencies). The possible downside to the WTDI is it's powered ...it takes 12-18 AC or DC power. So it can drive a power amp like a head would.

All of that to say...it depends on what you need. Of the 2 IMO the Eden wins hands down due to the quality review of the Punch Factory and the WTDI's other capabilities for tone shaping. There are other compressors like MXR M87, EBS Demeter, Agilar TLC, etc. that are in the same price range and much better.
