Apple Logic Studio for bass guitar.

It seems logical the migration from basic software to professional ones. I need to know if the simulation speakers and pedals can be used with a eletric bass guitar. Borrowing guitar pedals to use with bass guitar is a very tense sport and usually don't produce good "effects" .

Hey Diggerfdf,

Companies are getting better at emulating the characteristics of effects in the domain. And it's apparently it's cheaper to do. I can buy one plug-in for Pro Tools and put it on every channel, if my computer can handle the processing power.

I find that some guitar effects sound great on bass, even better than their bass effects counterpart.

Personally, I use a combination of 'real' pedals and outboard gear and the plug-in equivalent of some others. A lot of factors are involved in what I go with but most of time it's ease of use. They all seem to be able to do what I need. And if a listener is noticing the frequency response or signal to noise ratio of the gear I'm using then that means I'm not playing well enough.

If I play the part well enough and if the music is good then the gear just needs to not get in my way.

Perfectly noted. Your gear must not get in your way!

After 10 years of not even touching anything about bass, I saw one of my dream basses, a Ibanez ATK. They made it again!! I bought one and started to spend some money to get back. I already got a Hartke a35, a Tascam mkII 144, behringer MS40 monitor speakers, a behringer C3 Mic. From the old days I still have a Boss Bass Chorus CEB-3 and my beloved Sansamp bass driver DI. I was audictioning to get into a band. I sucked big time, I never played so badly in my life. I decided to get my act together. Finally I decided to enroll on the berklee professional bass player online course. I already got all the equipament that is a pre requisite to record the lessons...

Putting everyting on the scale, I shouldn't spend all those bucks on those things. I could have bought a GT10B and good earphones. I will use the mic and the other stuff to work on my Voice Over exercises. I guess it will be worthy to get acquainted to logic studio. I read somewhere here that the price of the ilife and all other jam packs make the logic studio a smart choice.

So, I have one more question. I won't be playing live anytime soon. To confirm my thougths... Is it worth it to spend money on a big awesome bass head and cabinets of my dreams or it will be wiser to get another bass? I found a rockbass 5 string fretless at a reasonable price. I could buy a Good and powerfull kit from hartke and with the other gadgets I could siimulate the sound of a much more expensive bass head and speaker. What is your council??

Thanks a lot for your patience. These forums make my comeback easier and more worthy...

Hey Digger,

If I knew you and knee more about you I could make a recommendation.

I think it's wise for musicians learn their craft but at the same time play with people. Even if you're just jamming with friends in the basement for fun. You just have to think if the separately than the time you need to put into your instrument.

To use a basketball analogy,...

A player needs to focus on aspects of their 'game' like shooting free throws, dribbling and passing but at the same time the coach will have him play in scrimmages.

As far as a bass rig go,...

I'm nit sure if I can be much help. I think people should buy the 'best' gear that they can afford. Other than my 'life experience', my bass has the biggest impact on musicianship. I wouldn't skimp in that area. I'd buy the bass that I want to play first. Then I'd design and out my rig together one piece at a time.

If you email me I'll make some recommendations on gear. I don't want to do that in a public forum.

peace,
anthony
