Aquila Thunder Reds to replace Kala roundwounds?

I recently acquired a Kala "Journeyman" Ubass and really like it!
I'd really like to try some 'nylgut' strings on it to get closer to an upright sound, but don't want to replace or file the factory nut if I don't have to.
It appears that the Thunder Reds are the thinnest nylon strings and closest to the roundwound diameters (that I could find)?
Wondering if anyone here has tried this and how it worked out???

Hey man,
Late to the party. I just got one. Put on some Road Toad Pahoehoe right from Kala in California.
They are awesome. They really make the Ubass go DEEP. I had to file the neck a tiny bit and I just did it with some light sandpaper around the and older flatwound string.
The real challenge is learning how to string these polyurethane strings. They super flexi and slip the tuning peg.
I strongly recommend it and it turns the Ubas from a steelstring Minibass to a UBASS.

I have used reds and they are fine strings, while being the least in gauge, you may still need to do some filing on the nut. If you are hesitant of doing this yourself, then go to a respected guitar repairman in your area and have him do it. Better safe than sorry.
