Arcane 65 Experience Precision Pickup!

I put these P bass last night and wow I have never heard such a balanced Precision pickup ever!
Super smooth sounding very clear the mids are very articulate and warm. These are hand wound and built to order very quickly I might add I ordered these on tuesday and they were in my mailbox 4 days later! Very nice build quality to boot! Do yourselves a favor and check these out!

Hello Mike. Congratulations on your new Arcane pickup working out so well. A notable fan of the 65 Experience P bass pickup is Laurent, whose comparative review of it is quite good. I like this pickup, too, and I agree with your summary description of it.

Though I never got around to reviewing the Arcane 65 Experience P, I did review the 57 Experience P. Later in that thread, I answer Laurent's question about comparing those two Arcane pickups.

I have owned both pickups. The Fender Pure Vintage 63 is a warm really bassy and punchy pickup. It just sounds huge and is just fun to play. It's candy for the ears! Despite the name it sounds like a modern pickup and because it's machine wound it does not have the complexity of the Arcane. The trade off of having so much bass is the pickup delivers a limited amount of hights.

The Arcane Experience 65 is an amazing sounding pickup and it shines by its balance, its harmonic complexity and its vintage vibe. It's really balanced from string to string and across the frequency spectrum. I have written extensively about this pickup which I consider one of the two best with the Kloppmann 63 which is twice the price. The owner of Arcane is the most brilliant pickup maker of his generation (he's younger than the Seymour Duncan, Fralin and Lollar of this world) and has also done amazing work on aging pickup covers. He a true artist and a very small operation.

I enjoy reading your reviews. I've been looking at either the Arcane 65 or the Kline P bass 62 pickups lately. I have several p basses, and I've got Fralin, Lollar , Fender PV 63, 58 & 60 , Novack pickups in these basses and my original 1966 P bass. I'm going to decide soon between Arcane and Kline to put in one of my basses since I've got the PV 63s in three of my basses.
I'm leaning towards the Arcane 65 hoping it's close to my 66 p bass pickup which is a very smooth, even and vintage sounding .

Just purchased the Arcane 65!! After finding a couple of clips here and SoundCloud that helped me decide. Laurent you're reviews of this certainly helped me decide too!

Received the Arcane 65 Experience today , installed it and WOW. Everything described such as clear, string to string balance is all there. As I was playing and listening adjusting the tone knob the term "beautiful " came to mind. That's how I'd describe them. A beautiful P bass sound , elegant, rich and balanced. There's just a nice classic P bass sound there. I'll know more this weekend how they sound in a band setting. Just a great pickup!!!

its interesting that yours is 10,38k. I’ve 10,88k and Laurent’s pair (gutted I missed out) at 11,33k

Yes I will. Playing these again today just enjoying them with headphones through a little Ampeg practice amp and my EBS Microbass 2 pedal.
I have to check my '66 p bass pickup readings but if I remember correctly, they are in the 10.4 range and are wonderful pickups.
I may venture and order a set of the Arcane '57 in the future.

Regarding your 66 p bass then maybe they are within a range then.

I passively ordered it on Oct. 3, 2022 off the website. I have it in a P-bass I use for a weekly blues jam house gig...people like it.

I guess I didn't really think about it too hard when I got it and installed the pickup. I knew I had wanted an Arcane for a long time. I like this pickup enough I would get another 65 Experience and throw it in my Antiquity II equipped bass...I just don't really "need" to do that...LOL! Now thinking about it, this hotter wound Arcane would really complement my other P-bass...hmm...?!?
