Are all short scale strings just long scale strings made shorter?

I’m asking because the short scale string sets I’ve tried were both long scale strings in disguise. Not optimal. Not originally designed for short scale but just adapted to it. Like the GHS Precision flats I currently have on my Fender Musicmaster. Hence the dead E and dull A.

GHS Balanced Nickles SS are designed as SS strings from the ground up. I know several others are, but I can't think of which ones off the top of my head.

I tweaked those a bit to better suit the short scale basses they’re going on. Perhaps the strings were twisted upon install? DM me and we can troubleshoot this a bit more.

No I know well how to avoid twisting. I was curious to see how the E would feel and sound at a slightly higher pitch and it was great suddenly, the E string was ´singing’, but I can’t set it in F forever… It’s frustrating because GHS Precision flats are a favourite of mine on 34in scale length.
