Are Asterope cables worth the money?

Yes, they are. It's remarkable the difference they make. If you have a well made instrument and running through either proper studio or hand-wired live gear, it's virtually night and day versus the rest. And the cables are massively durable. If you're an experienced player and have a sharp ear, these cables will really surprise you.
I ended up getting a Tsunami cable, so far, so good. And I've absolutely sworn off Monster Cables after the job they did on my input jacks.
From what and into what did you test one? I'd be interested to know. I found it to be night and day.
From a variety of basses into a variety of amps with a varied group of local bassists (many full time musicians) in a studio setting. And what I stated above was the consensus....not just my opinion.
My experience: My Asterope, used in a home studio and not handed roughly, shorted out. I sent it back to Asterope for repair (was charged $20), received the cable back and within a few weeks it shorted out again. Seems to be a problem with the termination at one of the plugs. I don't particularly feel like paying another $20 to Asterope to repair it again. I did also have an Evidence Audio Lyric cable fail, and the maker promptly prepared it for free and it's stayed fine ever since. Did the Asterope sound much better than other name brand cables I have? Not really. The Asterope was a disappointing purchase for me. I was reminded of this when I pulled the Asterope from my dead cable pile yesterday to confirm it was bad. YMMV.

I was wondering the same. I had read an article, so I put Asterope in my saved search on Ebay and a USED bass cable came up for $99 and sold immediately before I could even look at it.
I DO know that thicker, and shorter speaker cable is important and sounds better, so I concentrate on that part.
My wireless sounds good, and I asked an engineer (albeit this was 2010) and he said the yellow $20 Guitar Center cables are his favorite cables after trying them all. I have never had an issue with them, either.
