My mate just ordered one in orange and i was wondering if anyone else had experience with them. Definately gonna have a play around with it but was wondering if anyone else had mucked around with one.

Are Big Al's any good?

I have a 2010 Big Al 5 SSS which I'll never sell and had a single H 5 string as well that I regret selling, they are both outstanding basses. Both are active /passive, with a four band eq and a passive tone control, both offer a position that is in series, the SSS series is the bridge & middle, which is great in passive mode.
Both are incredibly versatile and can cover just about any style. They both have killer passive tones which MM's never offered until these and the 25th / Reflex models and also a couple of special run Stingrays. The Big Al's are a best kept secret in the model lineup as they don't seem to market them much. Pre Congrats to your bud.

I played a used one at the local GC and it was a killer bass. I don't know there is a situation that the bass could not handle. It's too bad that the one I was playing had some issues with a couple of the push button switches or it would have gone home with me. Fantastic bass.
