Not sure what you mean... A 500watt Orange amp head (BT500h for example) isn't much more expensive than a comparable GK version (like a Fusion). Definitely not 2x or 3x, at least.

Well yes, but you are kinda comparing oranges (sic) and apples here. You should pick a GK with a tube preamp and a 212 cab (with equal build quality, like the neo series, not the mb series). There's probably still a price difference then , but surely not as extreme as you put it?
CL400Peavey said:I would say the build quality of the Orange is lacking, not the gk.
That's pretty interesting, since the build quality of Orange bass cabs is being described as "first rate" on these forums, whereas the gk mb series get much more criticism for not being sufficiently braced, no damping, etc.
The Orange cabs lack damping as well.
And the GKs are what, $300?
CL400Peavey said:My point exactly. The orange cab costing so much more should be better, not the same.

Dirt cheap conventional speaker, not a bit of insulation in the box and cheap thin tolex.
I can honestly say that my Orange cab is the only piece of gear I own that I felt ripped off after I bought it.
$660 for a cab that should cost $450
