are orange bass amps worth the $

If the heads and cabs are the answer to your tone quest then they are. For my tastes and money they are way over priced for what you are getting. It's not what they cost, but my idea of the value of the product. Thats my opinion, others will vary.

Well somebody is still buying them so I would assume so. I personally wasn't about to pay $2500 for a head with one tone, granted I really liked that one tone.
You also have listed 3/4 of cheaper (financially) brands, Acoustic is not what it used to be, Hartke's top head costs like $800, and Carvin deals direct, so they will obviously be cheaper than a major brand that still thinks they make boutique gear.

It's the same as with any other manufacturer. An item is worth what you're willing to pay for it. For me, no, they aren't; even if they were only $0.05/watt, they wouldn't be worth it. For many other people, though, they would pay even more than the current asking price, and be well satisfied. Decide what tone you want, then get the amp that gives you that tone, regardless of price. Do that, and you'll be happy. Any other answer, and you'll forever be wondering, and spend a ton of money chasing a tone that is only available in that one amp.
Not sure what you mean... A 500watt Orange amp head (BT500h for example) isn't much more expensive than a comparable GK version (like a Fusion). Definitely not 2x or 3x, at least.

I can not speak for their amps but I can say their cabs are a total rip off.
Dirt cheap conventional speaker, not a bit of insulation in the box and cheap thin tolex.
I can honestly say that my Orange cab is the only piece of gear I own that I felt ripped off after I bought it.

My point exactly. The orange cab costing so much more should be better, not the same.

...certainly a difference, but not as big as people think.

Orange are to Matamp what Squier are to Fender. Except Orange are nearly as expensive. Might as well get the real thing rather than an Eastern copy in about the same shape and a different colour.
