Are plexiglass(clear) basses any good?

i have an ampeg dan armstrong, i love the sound, very punchy, similar to a p-bass, the weight doesnt bother me and i love short scale.

Definitely get one, and fill it full of LEDs that flash different patterns in time with the beat. That's a way to get the attention back from those attention whore guitarists and singers.

I own a clear Galveston 5ver. Sounds great. Heaviest bass I've ever seen or touched. Crazy heavy. Worse than my bubinga Thumb 6 N/T.

+1 on the looks / gimick thing. Would look cool full of LEDs though. Played one once at a bass shop in Melb, Very muddy tone but strings were old.

I'm not sure what the point of this thread is. How many luthiers/corporations are actually building basses out of these materials these days?

Is there a reason for that? I would think that there must be.
