The only problem is that the Fenders only come in J's and P's.Personnal, I would save up for the Fender.

I need my P/J's and 5-string fretlesses man!
I can feel the rocks being pelted at me now .. but fender basses aren't all that and a bag of crisps ..
My cat's breath smells like tuna
Grab one if you want it. They are certainly cheap enough so that if you decide it sucks you aren't out much. Even if you take a bath on reselling it, you still won't lose that much. I've only played three SX's in my time. Two briefly then a third where I was able to tweak the setup to try and make the sucker play better. Take my comments with that in mind. I haven't spent as much time with them as others have.
I personally wouldn't buy one. I completely do not understand the comparison to MIA fenders. Not remotely comparable. Quite frankly, the average MIM fender is a noticeable step up from SX from what I've seen. With used MIM's going for just a touch more than SX's, that's where I'd look for a budget beater.
