I don’t believe so. Normally if Fender makes a meaningful change, they change the model name too. I’m pretty sure these are using the same pickups, tuners, necks, tone circuit, and bridges now as they did in 2018.
All MIA and MIM models got a revamp around that time, partly in response to CITES compliance removing Rosewood as an option for the MIM models. Making that change to Pao Ferro from Rosewood for the Classic and Standard/Deluxe series, they had to differentiate from models with Rosewood, so relabeled them Player and Vintera series, and for the Players at least gave them AlNiCo pickups and a new logo. All that also gave them the opportunity for a price bump, but doing that made them uncomfortably close to the MIA models, which Rosewood was allowed for under CITES since they’re not for an export market - any export would be done by their sales distribution partners. Thus, the opportunity to revamp and reprice the American Select, American Standard, and American Deluxe models and evolve them into the American Performer, American Professional, and American Elite models respectively. Some models were affected in 2017, some in 2018 iirc. The American models arguably had the biggest changes from the previous generation.
For the American Pro, a pickup change was made, so they rebranded it as the American Pro II and changed the neck bolt configuration. I don’t believe the Player, Vintera, Performer, or Elite models have had any changes at all since they were introduced - other than annually new colour options or pickguards of course.
The American Standard was a big change when it was introduced in 2008, with new tuners, a new bridge, and a new finish style. For whatever reason, when they changed the pickup to the Custom Shop 62 in 2012, they didn’t change the model name, but that was the only change they’d made, so I guess it wasn’t material enough.
EDIT: you didn’t ask about them, but in my rambling I overlooked the American Originals, which were also revamped around that time from the American Vintage Reissue Series. They were also a big change.
