Indeed. I typed this into Google search, "What does it mean when they say, 'Fire the drummer'?" and the first five hits were TalkBass.

Noting that this only indicates the relative volume of what people are searching for on Google, and not what they are actually doing.
Perhaps one takeaway is, it's a better time to invest in shorties than in Tech21.
And, even if waning interest in precisions drags TB down, it will always have carrots to fall back on - their demand is steady.

That’s it. I’m gonna liquidate all my bass stuff and invest in carrots.

Slowing down compared to when?

This is my first reply ever in TB, and I am only doing so because I found this thread very interesting, just like the other 2 million things I've read in TB for years but never even completed my registration! Why?, I am one of those that grew up reading stuff in libraries, waiting for a magazine only to get 6 all at once HA! Read on, get new questions, and investigate some more again, develop patience and nurture your interests.

So I am a lurker, just like thousands of others in the same place as me. I never post/reply etc., as every question I might have, someone else was quicker than me in asking it, and if I knew the answer to one also, there was someone else with a better answer.

Anyways, I am responding on the 7th page on a thread posted about 16 hours ago... just goes to show.

I love reading stuff here honestly, I don't know if it has slowed down, but 99% of the times I've had a Bass related question, the answer is somewhere here.

She's gotten right sassy in her old-age, Jeff. The other day I pitched a wink and a line out there, and she replied - Surely thou art kidding! Whooooooosh... back in the Bottle.

I'd check us into some couples counseling, but well... play that out five moves... it doesn't end well for me.

First of all, I don’t think the stats are accurate I mean it is based on what people “say” their age is… and if this is accurate, none of
the 25-35 crowd is posting or commenting.

Without seeing log files or visitor stats, I can't really tell. So I don't know if things are really slowing down or I'm losing interest myself and that is being misinterpreted by myself as "things slowing down".

Even if things aren’t slowing down traffic wise, they’re definitely slowing down” useful content” wise

I’m aging out. I have little in common with the average talkbasser now, musical tastewise. I blame spacetime, which will not stop or even slow no matter how much I beg.

I’ve been a member a long time. Years ago the majority of posts, in my opinion, were much more bass related. Great gear reviews, technical discussions etc. I don’t know if TB is slowing down but there are so many non bass related posts. The “our drummer has bad breath and I don’t know what to do” posts are now quite common. I mostly peruse the classifieds.

Bad breath I can handle. My drummer gets gas on the regular. When I hear "fire in the hole!" I step away!

People seem so sensitive and downright eager to be offended to report people. I don't post as much out of fear of getting banned and losing access to the classifieds.

Demographics in these analyses are not based on users telling the agencies about themselves. The info is inferred from marketing data (which I guess is another form of users reporting on themselves, but you know what I mean ).

I think it ebbs and flows depending on how many times any number of The Top 10 Questions on Talkbass are in the rotation. Sometimes, you just wish somebody would come in with different questions.
