Are those Boomers ?

Red silk only on tuner side, no tap, brass ball ends.
Just bought this bass a few days ago, and loved the tone, strings included.
It sure reminded me a Rick I tried some time ago, that has Rotosound Swing Bass on it.
But the G string on mine is the wimpier I ever saw, I'm guessing 30 (E string looks like 90 or something).
My first thought was Roto Funkmasters (never tried those, but my understand is that they are same as Swing Bass in a super light gauge).
But surface seems a lot smoother than the Roto Swing Bass.
Since I never tried Boomers either, need to know if those are them, I want to step up to 40.

If you're referring to the Roto SB66 Stainless Steels, the Boomers, being nickel-plated steel, are slightly darker in tonal character. Boomers are all about the punchy low-mid with grit and grind, while there's more going on in hi-mids with the Roto.

Boomers do come in "extra light", 30-50-70-90. My personal favorite is the light set, 40-55-75-95.

Yes, on close inspection, they do not have the step in the silk that would indicate Rotos, and they do look like NPS wraps. They also look like the 45-105 Boomers I had when I owned a 1976 4001 in the 80's. It could be an extra light set.

You may find that the tone you love is in part due to those very light gauge strings and that it won't sound as good going for a larger gauge. Only one way to find out though. ;)

Don't sweat it, I'm in the bottom of the world also. Boomers are US$50 here in Brazil.
But I'll order them from Fretnation, free shipping to Albany, where a friend lives.
Then when he desperately misses the US$20 all-you-can-eat BBQ restaurants down here (open fire/salt, not that cooked meat full of sugar he eats as BBQ), he'd come for a visit and bring me the strings... :smug:
