Are you in an Eagles tribute band?

I've always loved playing the Eagles' songs. I see that there are no tribute bands in my area (1/2 million people), and did not even find any in the tri-state PNW. (Just checked Gigsalad, Gigmasters and Google).

So I'm thinking of putting one together. I have players that can do it, but I'm wondering if there is enough interest.

I'm thinking of targeting local venues and corporate events, not traveling outside of our metro area, and certainly not going up against the big tribute bands out there.

Can it be done well without keys, or would that be required to really nail the sound? My keys player is m best lead guitar player...

I think one of the most importanr factors would be a band full of great, not okay, vocalists. The harmonies are key (pun intended).

You can do a lot of their music without keys. But as @elgecko said, the key is vocals. You gotta be able to nail the multiple harmonies.

Some songs would be weird without keys (e.g. I Can't Tell You Why, the intro to New Kid In Town, and especially Desperado). You could avoid those tunes or maybe do sequenced tracks.

Those are all very cool renditions/versions but tribute acts are typically expected to play songs just like the bands they're paying tribute to did. An acoustic version of Hotel California would be appropriate (probably even cooler) for a tribute act since The Eagles did one of those.

A very good Eagles tribute band out of Toronto Canada are Hotel California,
worth catching if you have the opportunity..

There's no law about being a tribute band who does their own take on things. Maybe you could form a Led Zeppelin tribune band that played reggae style and to make it more interesting, the lead singer could be an Elvis impersonator!

I would form an Eagles tribute band with only ladies. I would just be the agent. There would be no keyboards, but there would be banjo, fiddle, 6 and 12 string acoustic guitar, upright bass, and a pomegranate

The whole idea depends on the pomegranate. Without the pomegranate you got nothing.

I love the Eagles.

Having said that, I can see how some people don't. They skew into easy listening territory and that's not everybody's thing. You can also argue that they've been overplayed since the 70s but I think the biggest factor in the Eagles hate is that a certain Coen Brothers movie made it cool and trendy to hate them.

They skew into ROCK AND ROLL territory quite a bit as well!

I love the Eagles. I consider them an Essential Band of Rock.
