argh, killed my pup!

hi all

i just got an sx p/j ash
and the high pole pieces were annoying me

i found that a hard push on the poles
popped the magnet off the back
and i could push them all flush with the cover
and reattach the magnet

this worked nicely for the top piece of the p pup
and i tested it and it all worked nicely
so i went at the other one and now the whole p pup
is dead

i am going to try what i can as i hve nothing to lose
but can anyone see what may have went wrong?

the covers are glued on so i cant get at the insides

unless i upset the windings with what i did
but the poles dont touch the windings, right?

all visible wiring and solders are intact

any advice welcome

regards

I just replaced the pickups on an SX Tele for someone, and they aren't worth rewinding. Really cheaply made. maybe the bass pickups are better, but these had steel poles and a big ceramic magnet glued to the bottom. Not a bad little guitar though.

If the coil was wound right on the steel poles, it probably broke the wire.

+1

Look at this as a good excuse to upgrade.

thanks guys

i am fairly poor at the moment
any tips on a usable cheapo P pup to get me by

i may be able to get a good set
in a month or so but would like something in there
in the mean time!

How's $18?

Real alnico magnets and everything.

I put one of their dual blade Tele lead pickups in one of my guitars, and it sounds damn good!
