Aria Pro II SB 700

Finally I'm an owner of an Aria Pro II SB 700!
I started playing bass in the late 80's, John Taylor was my 1st real bass hero and I always wanted that bass. Now after all these years I found one. I bought it yesterday and I took the picture this morning, it was still dark so the picture quality is bad but I'll take a new one later on.
There's a problem with the truss rod though, I just needs a tiny little more straitening of the neck but the adjustment screw is maxed out. I think I'm gonna try the "washer" trick and see if that works out.
Soundwise this bass is just IT! I can't believe it's a passive bass, incredible tone.

Very happy for you!! A nice bass with a killer tone indeed!!

I too got my long time searched Aria pro II elite I BnG as Cliff Burton means the same for me.

Nice! JT was the reason I started playing bass and Ive always loved that tone. Last year I bought an awesome 79 SB1000 and it nails that tone.

Yeah, these basses are awesome. When I tried out this bass I plugged it into a Kemper pre-amp with everything set neutral, put on the headphone and after the 1st pluck the JT tone was there, amazing.
Yesterday I tried the washer trick, I have to tighten the bolt bit by bit but the neck already has less back bow and is almost there where I want it to be

Yeah, tried one of Aarons, it sounded nothing like the original and really didn't work as a pair to the other MB which is how Brian ended up with that and I moved the bass on in utter disappointment. I want a SB but a pair of original and working MBs have to be part of the deal :D
I agree. The architecture is totally different. I have heard Reed James pickups sound dead on.

So if I need a replacement for the MB 1E pickup I should get one from Reed James?

Well, my SB 700 sounds great now, the neck is almost completely straight with very little back-bow just the way I like it.
What I love about the sound if how punchy the lowest notes on the E string sound, I can't remember any bass I've played that sounds with so much authority in the lows.

There's a huge thread over in electronics where he took 2 years to send pickups. I'd go with rautia if needed.

EDIT: by he I mean Reed James.
I read that also. Since then there has been new people brought into his organization. At the time he was absolutely overwelmed with the demand for his product. There are many out there that have stories of getting their pickups within two weeks and being absolutely thrilled with it. There are also stories out there saying they had a hard time getting their pickup but when it came they were absolutely blown away and would go through the same hassle again. I have heard so many people say his MB pickups are spot on for original sound. Early in the new year I will be ordering an MB and a Neo from him.

Nice one Arjan - congrats on the SB700! :) That one is next on my wish list :)

Earlier this year I found an SB1000 like JT's - and yes, as you said, as soon as I plugged it in and hit the first note, there was THAT sound! Completely blown away! :) Still am, every day when I play it...

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie here, where is the Aria Club on here please? :)
