Aria Pro II SB1000 ST

I have seen a few of these at shops in Japan but never played one. You're right about the main differences: MM style pickups and a set neck. It's definitely a departure from the SB most people know and love (single humbucker in the sweet spot and neckthru construction). I'm sure they are very nice but for the money I would personally go for a more traditional SB.

Just out of curiosity, these basses new RI, CB etc., if you can get them are close to $3000. Used I've seen them run from $1000-$1500. I know it's a personal thing but for a Japanese bass at $3000 you're in that boutique hand made zone, Alembic included, and from what I've gathered , they don't even throw in a gig bag. Can someone describe what's so magical about this model? (With all due respect to current owners).
