I searched and found nothing so decided to open one.

Here are a few pics of mine which I bought new in Hong Kong in July 2010. I got the Fretted version and turned it into Fretless not long ago.

Hi again!

Received my 2nd hand Sinsonido yesterday, here's my opinion...


The bass is super light, which I find very nice. It's a bit lively, but you quickly get used to it. The assembly of the "fake" bouts are easy and straight forward.

The piezo-pickup has this weird stereo effect that I can't really seem to make friends with (read about it). It's just weird, totally late 60's to have the sound pan from left to right when you play up from the E-string to the G... weeeiiiirrddd.. :eek:

The playability of my Sinsonido is extremely nice, low string height and flats. Just my taste. I'm actually impressed by it, amazing when you think of the price I've paid for it (300$ of the Bay).

The softbag is also nice, with seperate rooms for the bass, the bouts and accessories. Nice semi-thick padding. Thumbs up.

The only thing I can't get my head around is the tone control, which doesn't seem to work properly on my bass. :mad: It does alter the sound, but not in the way a tone control should. Don't know if I can get this sorted out some way, we'll see. The sound of the bass is a TREBLE inferno, which is not directly my taste.

Hey!!!! Nice to hear you finally got it.

I didnt notice the pan from left to right. I will check it out.

Its light as a feather. I never used the frame it comes with and sometimes if I try to play a bit hard, it gets a bit unstable.

I changed the soft bag for an airsoft rifle bag which has more cushion and it a bit more hard and comfortable to carry the bass around.

The bass is very very trebly. That's why I mentioned the preamp is very hot and that I always have my tone knob roller off. In my amp I keep the treble and mid EQ flat and boost Bass to 2 or 3.

In any case this was conceived as a practice/travel bass and even though it can work ok in a gig situation. I never gigged with mine but did several band practices with it.

Edit: By the way, looking at your pic yours is the first model that came out. Controls look down to the floor while in mine the controls look up. Having the pots looking up sometimes you can move the tone knob by mistake with your plucking hand.

Yeah, it's very cheap and built for travel/practice. I commute a lot by train and I want to use there. I'll keep you posted about this aspect of the case. I definately don't wanna use it for gigs, the sound just isn't good enough for that.

Yeah, I've got the old model. Weird that they relocated the knobs. They fit much better below than on top of the body.

I'll join the club. I've had my Sinsonido for about 5 years now. Wouldn't be without it. I play without the foamy bits too. I use it when I travel, but also when I'm working at a desk or a PC and need to write, type and play without knocking everything onto the floor. There's a thread here somewhere which was joined by someone from Soloette, talking about licencing and future ideas. I also use it for some songs in small gigs when folk can say "What's that???" and start a conversation.

Yeah, dont know why they changed the knobs position. They are more accessible now but sometimes the plucking hand can touch them by mistake. Especially the tone knob.
For moving around it something difficult to bit. I bought it cause due to my job I travel a couple of times a year and because it seemed as a good practice tool when I dont want to bother they family with my playing. But I'm also using it for band practice and taking lessons.

Should have said: When I bought mine (things may have changed) the strings provided were very sharp roundwounds..much too twangy for my taste. I bought some black nylon tapewounds, which not only look great but allow a really good woody tone.

I played my Sinsonido on the train on my way home from work today, it was excellent! :bassist:

I commute 200km by train each day 2 to 3 times per week, which adds up to 5 to 7 1/2 hours on the train on a weekly basis. The Sinsonido is perfect for this application, it rocks.

I just wish that my tone control was working... :crying: Maybe I can get someone to fix it, I dislike the treblish inferno I'm in right now.

On the train! Just what this bass was designed for. I don't want to keep on referring to past threads, but I'm sure there were posts with reference to Aria being very helpful about parts and repairs on a Sinsonido
