Aria Sinsonido Club

Hey guys,

A few years ago I got a fretless Aria Sinsonido second-hand from a friend. I've never played it much, until now. I noticed that he battery goes flat really quickly. I always take it off the bass but even then it lasts maybe a few hours. Probably a short somewhere?
The tone on the low E string is really boomy. I don't know if it's normal but I can't really play anything on that string, it gives me headaches! Maybe replace the strings? It has normal roundwounds now. I was thinking flatwounds, but I'm not sure about the gauge.

Well, G'day all! The thread has been silent for a while but I'll have a go at waking it up to see what gets discussed. I got my fretted Sinsonido today and have just started the process of making it sound like what I want. I'm playing it through an EA Doubler with a Wizzy 10 and a Wizzy 12 M-Line speaker which I use for my EUB. My regular bass is a 2008 Fender Jazz American Standard running string through the body and into a SansAmp Programmable BassDriver DI (not the VT) which gives the Bass a bit of colour. I have an SVT sound, a 70's rock sound and a Ginger Baker distorted sound all programmed in and ready to go at the clunk of a footswitch. Guessing it sounds a bit mad to replace an American made Fender with a Chinese made Aria (the Fender is going nowhere!) but my ageing bones will appreciate the massive weight difference.

You can hear that in the two guitars, that weight difference gives the Fender depth but the fact is that the Sinsonido sounds pretty damn good especially if looking for brighter, articulate sounds. Wanna get a bit of the old rock'n'roll, a bit messier and a bit less attack at the front-end of the note and its a bit harder. A bit of fiddling with the Sansamp is paying dividends but what have others tried? I'm wondering I guess about things people have tried and what they've discovered.
