Aries bass

I have a 6 string Bovidae .In my hand in that moment (you can see pics on my myspace too if You are curios ,The Higher Horn is almost the same but with a slightly different angle Which i dig more ,is more organic looking in that way).
By the way ,the higher horn is the symbol of Aries ,the same you find on the headstock (name of luthier =Arjan or similar)

**Back then that shape was called differently ("classic" or something )**.
New about 3400$ ,i got for a bit less as the guy who imported them is a Friend of mine (not imported anymore).
You can find them used ranging from 1600-1700$ to 2700$ here.
Liuthery i did touch with my hand was always top ,or at least all the basses the guy imported where all awesome. Never saw ANY chip or flaws .
The basses there are around here ,in Italy ,where all imported by the friend of Mine and are all beatiful crafted (he cared about hand-picking them) .

Mine came with EMg's (earlier production) ,
and i STRONGLY preferr Emg over the proprietary pickup,
which completely drowned the tone of the basses,too strong and not well matched.
Preamp on mine is proprietary ,3-mids selectable , and frequency of them selectable from outside of the back cover.
I switched to Q-tuners on mine , different sounding .
Friends of mine did install Villex ,But i heard Bartolini on them also.
All of them sounding good.
Woodes varies a lot ,but if you look at the homepage ,i confirm that some of the Unbelievable tops are as they appear =expecially the roots-tops are stunning,and fairly Unique in the finish (Look at the "GOLD" effect ,i saw and it's exactly like that ,no "photoshop magic" ,dunno how he does ).
Necks Are very very "Fast" ,even the wide ones (as mine).

Negatives about=
1)Proprietary electronics /pickups absolutely not at the level of the woods ,but easily switchable (strong , "fake"sounding ) .
2)The luthier is weird ,not very comunicative .I asked various times stuff and did'nt receive any answer or Info .He lives in a far- from-city place .
He comunicates better when you have to purchase one ..
I believe that is the main problem thatthe luthier cause to hiself ,otherwise those basses would be more sold and rated.
3) I did read (here) Th. many basses On US had chips or some flaws(?).
Whatever ,can't realize how is possible so high discrepance between the basses i did see personally and the ones who were apparently exported overseas ..bad courier maybe?Who knows

If i knew someone was selling cheap them ,i think i would have snapped one,guess it was an Us-sale only.
Overall excellent on woods ,
a bit peculiar the doublecut on the higher horn ,
spectacular the single cut (for me at least ,a more "organic" Ken Lawrence) ,
lower horn is very nice with Full access on both shapes.
If you are prepared to swap electronics ,you can have a True bargain ,If you find one "for peanuts" as mentioned.
Only reason i would switch mine ,
maybe to try something with completely different woods,
and could be another Aries too.
Mine is very "present " and forward ,warvick oriented (as the wood ..wengè -padouk ebony neck , mahogany-bubinga top). Quite unforgivable if mistakes occures ,but precise ..

Also extremely "fast neck" ,despite the 18.5 string spacing .
