art mic preamp

I have one, I hate it. Its supposed to add "life" to vocal tracks, which I guess it does if you consider "annoying inscessant hissing" to be "life" :eyebrow:

Nothing I could do ever got the hiss out. The weird thing is that 90% of what I've recorded through it has been death/black metal style vocals. You'd think this type of vocal track would be nearly imune to hiss but the ART consistently manages to amaze me in its ability to ruin an otherwise perfect vocal take.

I ended up ditching it when I figured out how to eidit presets on my J-Station enough to get a good vocal sound: Fender head + 212 celestion greenback + light reverb + compressor = good vocals :)
