Art of Doubt

Justin man, I have to say everything you touch seems to turn to gold. This new Metric outing is by far the best thing they've put out, you really got the band vibe going with them. The drums along with the guitar and bass tones were super cool and organic sounding which complimented the synths really nicely, and Emily's voice fits perfectly in everything.

some of the albums standouts for me
-Risk
-Die Happy
-Love you Back
-Now or Never Now
-Dark Saturday

for Bass tones I know you said B15 and BB bass preamp were mainstays, anything else in the chain? what did you use for mics? how was working with Joshua? His style really seems to have evolved from their previous outings, did you guys work on the parts together?

Well shee-it, thanks for this. I put a mountain of work into this one. :) Bass mics were Fet 47 and SM57. Oh yeah, Joshua and I worked over the parts in fine detail.

Without echoing the OP completely, he's right on the mark, the whole album is fantastic, it's been in heavy rotation since it was released. Great job JMJ & Metric!

Now or never now is just epic.

As far as bass tones go, just the Fender P, B15 & Xotic BB bass preamp?

Man, glad you like it! Awesome. Yeah, that's the bass tone for almost everything. There's also some JMJ Mustang here and there, as well as the occasional MXR Bass Chorus and Diabolik pedal. Same amp all the time.

Wow, JMJ Mustang too? that's awesome. I love the Diabolik! it's been my favourite fuzz for quite awhile. So would it be safe to assume that's the fuzz on Love You Back?

That synth on Anticipate was dreamy. I feel the bass sound on Underline the Black certainly deserves a mention as well.

I remember seeing your Sputnik II in a few posts from you and on the Metric Instagram accounts as well, did that make it on the album? that sure is a wild fuzz.

Thanks once again for spending time on TB to share your invaluable wealth of knowledge.
