Artec actives.

I'm thinking of fitting an Artec se2a active circuit to my jazz bass copy. They seem cheap and cheerful, but what I want to know is are they any good? I know they are used on some far eastern basses but I can't say that I've heard them! Also, while I'm here, anyone know if Wilkinson pick-ups and machine heads are any good?

I just installed one in a bass I was given and have to admit that I am pleasantly surprised with the results. You can get a good amount of different and usable tones out of them. I totally recommend them.
