Ashdown 300 Mag Head into Ashdown Mag Deep Cab

purchased this setup used recently.
300 Watt 4 ohm head into Mag deep Cab 4 10 Cab at 8 ohm

The sound as an under lying distorted tone/ sound when playing, is the ohms not matching on the head to the cab the cause of this ?

You may want to try plugging the amp into a different cabinet, and/or a different amp into the Ashdown cabinet to rule out which is faulty. An impedance mismatch can cause any number of problems over time, but more information would be helpful. Good luck, hope you get it figured out.

There is no mismatch. 4 ohms is simply the lowest your amp will go. Anything 4 or above is fine. So this is not a concern.

Sounds like possibly a blown speaker.

Tried a diffrent head, and it sounded good through the ashdown cab, so no speakers blown, has to be the Mag 300 head, but what ?
Also the lower the volume the more you can hear the distorted tones rather when you got it turned up loud you dont hear it nearly as much.
