Ashdown ABM 500 question.

The EVO-I and I think some of the II's were made in England then production switched to China for the II's. The III was made in China and also has an onboard compressor.

I'm a former owner of the Chinese made ABM-C115 combo (same amp as the ABM500) and an RPM1 preamp (made in England) both were nice. I've never noticed a drop in quality between the England or Chinese made amps.

With the EVO2 they apparently made the tube gain hotter.

I have/had all 3 of them and liked he 1 and 2 best.
The 3 was very noisy (fan noise through the speakers) and the compressor is almost useless (too low output and lots of hiss).

THe EVO2 (I have no idea where it is made) is my main gigging amp right now.
