Ashdown James LoMenzo HyperDrive - really like a Pearce?

OK, I found a post on here by James LoMenzo and he said this unit sounded just like his old Pearce with the B.S. mod. Well, I was just wondering does this unit actually sound like one? Has anyone owned both?

Also, what is the quality like? I figured it was made in China because it's not expensive, but read one review that said it was made in the UK. Does anyone know for sure?
