Wow man, I'm really feeling old. I played that song in my high school group when it first came out in 1968. Played with a group called the "St. James Infirmary", which was named after a song about an insane asylum...was fun! I was playing a 1965 Jazz Bass through a 1966 Fender Bassman at the time - sounded great.Ive got the PF50T, I use it with the older 1990's Ampeg svt-15E and or SVT-210HE, kicks ass. I also have an American made Crate "Palomino 32". Its a 30 watt guitar tube amp. I disconnect the guitar speaker, and run the out to my 15E. fat tube tone(think Zombies "Time of the Season" song)
Just tried playing it with my '83 Jazz. It has 70's era pickup spacing so it's a little brighter than my '65 was, but I rolled the tone down to #4 (nice to have numbers on my control knobs) and at least through my Bose headphones, that was the sound.
