ashdown mag wattage ?

hi there

I'd like to buy a ashdown mag 600H evo 2 with 2 cabs (ashdown mag 115 deep cab + ashdown mag 410T deep cab)
but I heard that when an amp has 2 cabs he splits his power in 2 egal parts. so for me it's (600 watt amp = 600 divided by 2 =300) so 300 watt in each cab. for the 410 that's no problem but I'd like to know if it's a problem for the 115 because it support only 250 watts.

does somebody has these amps? does somebody knows if it will work with full power?

More speakers means more air movement, which means more volume.

The 300m watt heads should be plenty, I run one through a 410 SWR cab, its an 8oh cab which means its only seeing 150 watts, Its plenty loud, to see the entire 300 watts I would need to add either another 8ohm cab or buy 1 4ohm cab.

Using 1 4ohm cab over the two cabs wouldnt necessarily be a huge difference in volume because its not moving more air but it would gain head room and stay cleaner at a louder setting.

I used to run those same cabs in that same setup. Never did like it much. Then I came here and found out that there are drawbacks to doing 4x10 + 1x15 setups, and little real gains from doing it as well.
Those cab are both displacement limited, so you're going to reach the mechanical limits of the speakers long before the thermal limit - the thermal limit is the one they use in those specs.
But yes, each cab can potentially receive 300W if you have your amp putting out maximum wattage, which is not going to always be the case. If you do get that setup, just listen to the speakers, they'll let you know when you're pushing them too far.

can I use the little eq meter on the ashdown front pannel to see if its to mutch to handel for the cabs?

The meter shows if the preamp is over loaded not the power amp. I have to agree with Ray. one 15" speaker on the bottom will not do nearly as much as another 410. I run a Mag600 into two 410s and it is an awesome rig. Very loud and cuts through very well.

That VU meter on the Ashdown shows how much input you putting into the amp before is clipping or not. Your amp will still puts out 600watt. Can someone correct me if is not.

So you can overload your amp and it blow up but your cabs should be fine.

I won't worry too much about that 50watt extra, you only will blow the cabs if you push the volume to max and EQ the Bass to much to pump out lots of bassto the speakers.

To behonest, all this 4x10 only or 4x10 + 1x15 is crap etc is all down to personal preference. IF it sound good to you and you happy then i don't see why you not using it.

I use Ampeg SVT 4x10 and 1x 15 myself but lots of people say should either be 4x10 or 1x15 only. Yeah it great but the sound i gettingfrom a 4x10 and 1x15 together is something different ........

Use your ears not your eyes .....

The bottom line is you will likely not blow up the 115. It will not be as loud as the 410 when combined and will not be heard as well. You may love it. You may also try a 210 and this will be more balanced with the 115. You may like the sound of two 115 cabs. For what its worth I run a Mag600 into a single 200 watt Mag210 as a stand alone on most gigs. I have never blown it up and don't expect to. Could I blow it up if I pushed it too hard? yes.

I have a MAG-300 set up with the same cabs (410 + 115), and I think it sounds awesome. I do have a question, tho! It seems I'm getting more sharp tones from the 115 built in under the power amp (it's like a combo with an additional 410) than the 410. If I should believe what everyone's sayin, the 410 should be more sharp-ish right? Especially hand-over-string slides (which give a high pitched ziingggg) tend to come out a lot louder when only the 115 is turned on.... I find this confusing!

A 1x15 by itself will not give you greater low end than a 4x10, just because it's a 15. That's not how it works. But, here are some truths- 2 cabs together will almost always sound better than either of the 2 alone. This is because the 2 combined will put out more sound. A 410 paired with a 15 is very popular, and doesn't necessarily sound *bad*, but it also doesn't sound nearly as good as either 2x 115's, or 2x 410's. Matching cabs ALWAYS sound better. When using 2 cabs with a bass amp, each cab will get half the amps power, (so long as both cabs are the same impedance), so a 410 can handle it's half with ease, while the 15 may struggle to be heard, or worse, start straining and farting, and you maybe can't hear that because the 410 is drowning it out. Just something to think about.
