Ashdown Studio 10 1x10" 60-Watt Bass Amp Combo

So, I plan on buying a combo at some point. Because of my living situation I want good tone at low volumes. The Ampeg RB110 is on my list but the only thing that concerns me is the buzzing/humming noise that some have reported. Maybe that is not an issue anymore since I haven't heard much about that lately. I'm looking at other models and the Ashdown Studio 10 is on my list too. I searched here for some input on these combos but there isn't much about their low powered combos, unless I missed something. Just want to ask if anyone has any experience with this combo. Thanks for any info!

Make sure you look at PJB. Small amps with indoor friendly output that sound great, like you wish your big amp sounded at low volume, that’s their thing.

They are a bit expensive but maybe a used model would be ok. I realize a good combo will be costly so maybe a used one if they don't have a fan. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've owned many of the current group of 1x10" combos including the Ampeg RB110 and the Ashdown Studio 10. I'll start by letting you know that I only play at home, always use a P bass, and always have at least a little (and often a little more) drive in my tone.

Overall I preferred the sound of the Ampeg to the Ashdown. I found the low end to be tighter on the Ashdown, but the mids and highs lacked a little clarity in comparison. While the low end of the Ampeg seemed more woolly, I preferred the projection of its mids and highs. I did find that plugging one or both of the ports in the Ampeg tightened up the bass response, and I probably would have made that a semi-permanent modification if I had kept the amp. I did like the flexibility of the Ashdown's 5-band EQ, but found that it had an inherent tone that just didn't suit me.

In the end I sold both of them as I also did with the Fender Rumble 40 and the Peavey Max 100 that I've also owned.
