Assembling a 'tractor' jazz bass clone/tribute.

Just got home. The USA company Barbera guitar Company from Los Angeles sent met their usa made pickup rings. They look awesome and they fit perfectly around the pickups. Remember the jazz pickups have different dimensions. The front is different from the back. If you order only one. Order right. These will be drilled since I could not find a set with screws. I bought the ones you stick on. Paying twice for shipment was quite a price difference.
They not only sent me the pickup rings but two stickers, a pick and an undertray for a glass. It was allso very well packed. Thank you Barbera Guitar Co… Beautiful product. No sharp edges either.
I just watched an video about the new Guild star fire basses for 2024. If I am not mistaken the bisonic pickups do look like a complete redesign.
Here is Roscoe Beck with his signature bass guitar. That has two Fender humbuckers each that consist of two low wound Fender jazz bass pickups. The humbuckers were designed by Bill Lawrence. I believe these pickups where his last designs.
I just received the backplate. So I can draw the back routing and start drilling and use the router to make the back cavity. And offcourse route the front for the two jazz bass pickups at the bridge. This way I can add additional switches and buttons to modify on the electronics.
Just received this. So I can spray the body and the neck without unwanted overspray. So I can paint in the loft. At a decent temperature. I bought this for around 30 euro... At a website called vevor.
Here is a mock up. I have to decide where to make the cavities with my router. I'll probably install some strings on some machine heads. The right ones haven't come in yet.
I am kinda fuming that my Fender machine heads haven't arrived yet. But it is what it is. I installed the neck. Now I am gonna route out the pickups. Fill up wood in between and then route out the back cavity. I allso installed the stereo (dual mono) plate underneath. It's late. Routing will happen tomorrow.
Gotta clean it up some more. Then add some wood to it. Drill and fit the pickup surrounds.
After that I will get to the back cavity. Once that is done I gotta do the wire routing. Making sure all the wires from the pickups route to the controll panel and to the jack inputs on the side. It will have besides the top jack a side (bottome) plate with two jack chassis outputs for a dual mono/stereo output.

The Gotoh aged vintage bridge I bought, I installed it with predrilled holes from the bridge that was there before. I fitted the bridge. Uninstalled then one of the screws broke. The head snapped clean off. Grrr...
Today my Fender vintage nickel machine heads arrived (the 60's version).
The '70's version still hasn't arrived (From Bax shop NL). Too bad. This is the 60's version I ordered 3 days ago from Thomann.

My work today. I created a cavity so I can add some things to the electronics. On the bottom there will be a faceplate for two jack chassis.
This cavity was cleaned up. So it will look nice. I will probably use my chisels to clean it up. This was a first quick route.
Now I have done I think all the routing it needs for my purposes. Now I can pre assemble. And play around with it.
I tried out painting the headstock. I first used nitro white base coat. Then two coats of lake placid blue. They I sanded it again. Ready for some new coats.

I need to deepen the edge for the back cover to let it sit flush. The body needs more sanding. I should wait with painting to get a steel saw. To make the fitment of the aluminum rings right and to mount the neck, put some strings on. But I hate the idea to damage the headstock when I will take out the machinehead rings..... Hmmm....
