Just found their site (Invalid Link Removed) from another thread. Looks like he does good work, and its made from Allparts or Warmoth stuff. Not sure about the Razor Power pickups though. Sounds kind of... budget-y :rolleyes:

The price is right though. $800 for a P bass made (mostly?) in the US, with similar woods and features, with a choice of a P or J neck? Sign me up!

I havent taken the plunge yet, but something from him was on my short list of purchase for next summer.

Since you're here, I don't suppose you have any issue shipping to Canada? And doing "non-traditional" colours?

My buddy Frank Wilson just bought one...it's for sale on Bassgear now. That has nothing to do with the bass and more to with Frank not being able to hold on to any bass he buys for more than a day.

The bass that Dan made for Frank looks great!!! I'd love to try one at some point.

I own one of his fine Precisions. It is a terrific instrument and Dan was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the entire process. I have been meaning to post a more thorough review (both here and on Harmony Central) and some new pictures; I only have the pics that he provided when he finished the project. I will eventually get around to it. ;)

It's precisely what I wanted; you can't really beat that. ;) A string change may be in order, though. I'm having mixed feelings about the Fender 9050Ms that I requested. I'll wait until I can wear them in a bit more. It's unfortunate that I haven't had much time to play with her. It is a well crafted instrument. Great work, Dan!

Dan does a fantastic job. My Atkinson was excellent value for money and it manages to get playing time alongside my much more expensive basses. I'd describe it as the sort of bass you dream about finding hidden in a corner of a second hand store. It's not a boutique type, ultra-slick design. It's a warm, solid gigging bass with a heap of mojo. Pound for pound, you would be lucky to get anything better for the money in my opinion.

I too am an owner. I second the above opinion(s): not a boutique bass, but an excellent value for the money. If you want the vintage Fender vibe, he's got it down for less money than pretty much anyone else. And really, if you're into that kind of thing, who wouldn't want to be able to pick the color, neck, pickup, etc. and have it built for about 800-900 bucks?

Those assemblies seems to be well done, the colors have matched well, everything stays in line and i love the pickguards.

Why can't Fender pull of something like this? Squier classic vibe did it with happy underpaid asian workers.
The Fender line has gone pretty much dry, i don't know if they have just relied on systematics for too long.
Necks come with restless tinting or uncared maple, the old rackle vintage "hip" topload bridge, i mean the whole picture is watching unlovingly back at you when you watch at a Fender bass.

I loved the sound of an HWY1, will probably buy the thing, even though it costs about 1150$ here. but it's generic.

Sorry the rant, nice thread.
