Attenuating pickups to match series/parallel humbucker output

Hi all. I am running two humbuckers with series coils, and they are quite dark in this arrangement. They are bright enough in a parallel coil arrangement, but the output is obviously much lower. My thought is to arrange it such that I can switch my neck pickup between series and parallel, and to attenuate the pickup(s) in series mode. This is my planned arrangement (the blend is a grounded MN blend pot)

Is there a more elegant solution, or will this cause any unforeseen problems?


Edit: some additional information that may not be clear. on the left I have shown each pick up represented by the two coils and how they are wired. The variable resistors prior to the blend pot would be trim pots in the control cavity

On second thought I guess that would change the load seen by the pickups? So.... I guess I need to account for the parallel resistance to ground added to the resistance in line with the signal.... so i guess I would do it like this right? Rseries + the inverse of (1/Rpot + 1/Rshunt)

It's a very common thing to add resistors to attenuate the series signal.

If i use a 250k in series, and shunt a 500k resistor in parallel with the 500k volume I should end up with the same load on the pickups at half the output (?)

The best thing that you can do is get a trim pot to mount in the control cavity, and fine tune it with your ears, rather than the math.
