I was wondering if any of you know whether it's possible to pair active pickups with an Audere 3ZB configurable module preamp. I can't seem to find the answer on the Audere website.

Audere 3ZB Module preamp with active pickups?

I asked them, but they said the z functions don't jive with active pickups. This was 2-3 years ago and not sure if things have changes.
Because of how the preamp loads the pickups, it will not work with active pickups.
The Audere Classic will work with active pickups such as EMG though.

Important Restriction if you have Active Pickups
To use our Z-Mode technology, you must have PASSIVE PICKUPS, meaning that the pickup does NOT have a semiconductor component in it. The vast majority of basses have passive pickups. EMGs are the most common active pickups. If you are uncertain about your pickups, google them (fastest), check with the manufacturer, or send Sales an email.

Speaking of Audere, who has one installed ?
I'm thinking of upgrading & they offer a 3 knob config that matches
my bass without drilling a an extra hole in the body.

I have two of them. Very musical sounding, transparent preamps. Sometimes I think the Z-Mode switch is too much control, as I'm an admitted knob-twiddler
If there's a control, I'm gonna play with it. I keep going back and fourth between mid-z and low-zI like the sound of mid-z better I think, it's got more 'air'. However, the gain adjustment controls only work in low-z mode so I'm constantly trying to find my sound in low-z so I can have the level adjustment to match my other basses.
I wish mid-z had the level adjustments!
Great preamps, though. I also love Aguilar preamps but are a pain to install since they don't come pre-wired. Audere's are wired and ready to go.

Which would you prefer for overall quality of the preamp? Aguilar or Audere? I'm trying to decide which one of these to drop into my Warwick Corvette. I'm looking to retain as much of the Warwick growl as possible while adding increased tonal control.
I'd say it's a wash on build quality. Both are fantastic. My Warwick Streamer sure sounds nice with the Audere
