Rudy is tremendous -- and of course, Raynes is a masterful drummer. I got schooled by guys like Raynes and had the chance to play with him on a weekly basis for several years on both jazz and rock gigs.
I'd like to try a Solstace. I had a Raven PMB1 for a while, but the preamp left me reaching for more EQ on the amp...a little too neutral sounding. Of course, I didn't have a mic at that point...
I can see that the mic situation might be best reserved for drummerless gigs...or on very nice stages with plenty of space for separation... There are quite a few powerful drummers here too in the Burgh...Art Blakey cast a long shadow over this town! And of course, most of the city venues are fairly small...
Leftover was fun! I usually caught the band in Fort Collins during the Brew Fests, etc. Not sure if I saw you with them or not...
