Audio-Technical stereo mic AT2022

Hi guys, I am looking to improve my live stream music sound (worship) .
I was looking into the AT2022 but notice is comes with an XLR to 1/8” plug.
Anyone have experience with this microphone? Can I run XLR to XLR?

This is a stereo mic designed for use with video recorders. Is that what you were looking for?

apparently you CAN use a standard XLR cable, but you must NOT use phantom power. I suspect you will not get L+R using a normal XLR cable.

If you are hoping to end up with stereo at the board, you may have to use an adapter to go from TipRingSleeve down to XLR left and XLR right

Rode NT4 for SDC or Cascade X15 for ribbon are tried and true stereo mic options that use standard XLR cabling and won’t break the bank. I have the X15 in my studio and it’s great as long as you don’t need much deep low end or extended highs (it is a ribbon after all).

I have an NT4 it's a terrific mic for anytime you need X/Y config. It's the OH drum mic used on an album I did a few years back.

It comes with a cable the terminates in a 1/8" TRS plug, and another that terminates in a L + R pair of XLR's. It can run on phantom power or a 9v battery. It's about double the price of the AT, however....

Thanks guys. I was thinking going xlr to xlr would negate the stereo based on my readings. Lets see what happens. An NT4 sure would be sweet. but $$. Then again its an investment right?? lol

In the case of the X15 it goes from a 5-pin XLR to a pair of standard XLR cables thus giving you stereo.

same for the Rode NT4. Replacing that cable is not as easy as going down to the music store, either.

I checked B&H Photo; both cables are back-ordered now

I hadn’t thought about replacements. Good call. My X15 came with a breakout XLR, as well as a sort of Y adapter with a 5-pin and then two standard 3-pin ends on 3” long cables. Hopefully between those two I’ll be covered.
