Double Bass audition in Rochester coming up

Wanted to let everyone know that we are having an audition for a one year, B contract spot in Rochester Philharmonic (NY). We had a member take a very last minute leave of absence so we're just now able to schedule and hold the audition. It will be on December 9th at 4pm. I'll be happy to send the rep list and application form to anyone who is interested in coming to audition, or you can also contact the audition coordinator, Bill Hunt, at [email protected]. This will not be posted in the International Musician because it is not a full time position.

A B contact spot here means that you are guaranteed to play all the classical subscription concerts. The "core" bass section (first 4) plays everything. If a core player is out/off, the B players are called to sub for them. There is the possibilty this job will become permanent at the end of the season.

Good idea. I just didnt' think about it. Here it is:

solo: Otello solo
excerpts:
Beethoven 5 - 2nd mvt (C thru the fermata 10 after C)
3rd mvt Scherzo and Trio, beginning through 23 after B

Brahms 2 - 1st mvt (E to F)
2nd mvt (2 before C to 2 before D)
4th mvt (beginning to B, and last page which is 11 after O to the end)

Wagner - Overture to Die Meistersinger
