Authentic MusicMan?

I found this bass on the local Kijiji. I'm not a potential buyer, but I thought it looked like it had some serious character. I am wondering about the date of manufacture, though. I was under the impression that these instruments were not produced until the early 1970s. MusicMan experts, what say you?

You're right, they weren't making MM's until the 70's. Really does look like it's been used and left out in the sun a while. The pickups aren't original either unless this was some kind of specially made Stingray.

Looks like he added a J pup and either put on covers or new pups.
Not worth the asking price if that's the case.
And he could have taken atleast somewhat decent, well lit pics.

It's late 78 to 79 based on the logo position and the encircled TM on the headstock and because it doesn't look like there is a serial number on the neck plate.

Right, it is at least $1200.00 -$1500.00 overpriced. Bluebook is $2000-$2500, where $2000 is fair/good condition and all original. With the pickup/electronics mod, and the beat condition, I'd say $1500.00 or so, if the neck is straight.

$3K Ca for a "60s" MM with replacement pickups? If he had the original pickup and pickguard that would be cool but the price would still be steep (for me anyhoo). I used " " for the date because yes I know it's wrong.

IIRC, *antique* indicates 50+yrs old.

i'd probably pay 1200$ personally if it really called to me , the finish wear does not bother me its all the mods and monkey work done to it, plus its probably routed thats a big turn off for me.
