AutoCAD 2011

Meh, it hasn't been foisted upon me yet but I'm sure it will be eventually. Every year they come out with a new version that's supposed to do all these fancy things but they never work right. They often manage to break things that worked well in previous versions.

IMO, 2006 was nearly perfect. I haven't cared much for any of the versions since then.

Haven't used AutoCAD since (I think) R11 on a 286.

I'm using Alibre Design right now for my mechanical tinkerings. It's somewhat like a cheap-and-cheerful Solidworks clone - bit rough round the edges but pretty capable.

2010 is much nicer than any of the other versions that I have used in the past. Much better than 2005, which was the last version that I used.

Has it got truss and lighting fixture libraries yet? I switched to VectorWorks seven or eight years ago because they had all this stuff available where in AutoCAD I was spending a huge amount of time building it.

Yes. Plus they have made importing stuff from one drawing to another a simple drag and drop. I have one drawing made up with every layer, text styles ect in it and I just drag and drop when I need something new. Plus you can do that with just about anything in a drawing. Made something cool in a drawing last week that you want in a new drawing? Takes about 7 seconds to do.
