Avalon U5 or Summit Audio TD100 DI-Preamp?

Hi...I plan to get one of these...which is better? I heard a lot of good thing about the Avalon U5 and a lot of pro bassists using it for both studio & live situation. Please advise.

Both very good. Try to do an A/B test if you can , if not , flip a coin.

I own a TD100

Different flavors, but very similar functionality; one is not better than the other.

Both are great honestly.. I would go with the Summit however. I like the tube warmth of the Summit more than the sound of the U5.

If you're using it for both live and studio stick with the Avalon. For the studio only-Summit{warmer in my opinion}.

I've owned both -

I still have the TD100

solely because of the variable impedance.

one of my instruments uses soundboard transducers that like to see a specific impedance of 1Mohm - not more or less.

also the Summit is smaller
