Avalon U5 vs Electro Voice RE-20

Look round the back there is a jack Socket that says "not more than 400 watts" just take a parallel out of your cabinet and plug up. Sorted:bassist:
PS It will give you exactly the same result but with EQ with a woods amp as plugging a bass direct into it as you are doing now but with far more danger and excitement of blowing it up as you probably have a minimum of 450 watts. Unless its an oldish Woods amp.
Woods amps are known for transparancy and lack of coloration.
So its just going to ape any eq settings your cab needs which may not be what the PA needs so I wouldn't bother mate.
Now if you had an all Tube amp?. Its a whole different story.:bassist:

if you don't have a tube head, i think it's kind of pointless to go speaker di because there's nothing in there that'll make a difference like an output transformer or tubes. but you take two speaker cables, run one from the head's speaker out into the di, then another from the out of the di into the cab. don't know how the u5 works but with the countryman you have to set a switch for speaker.

Tried the U5 tonight, defo nothing lost in translation tonight bass sound was stunning, even enjoyed the band before me using it with his squire bass :D

So just ran 400+ into the U5 using the speaker input and ran the Matamp 2x12 as my cab, I was just so happy.

I've not tried the RE-20 yet I don't know if I should bother and just sell it on as the U5 is a lot easier to setup.

Btw using the SFT as my boost and little bit of grit and I just love this combo, I am so blown away.

This tour is going to be super fun.

you can always use an re 20, dude. i'd hang onto it. but the speaker di does kick much ass. and yours is way better than mine, so i'm sure you'll have peaceful times on the tour listening to yourself.
