Avatar Owners Club Pt. 2

My matching SB112 came today. :hyper: I was not expecting it until next week, which would have been upsetting. I'll be in Iowa City and wouldn't have a chance to get it until the weekend. Now I'll have them all at my apartment by tomorrow. :bassist:

I took my BX500 and first Avatar SB112 down to the apartment this afternoon so I can't take any pictures of the stack yet. Oh boy, I can't wait to see and hear it!

Heres a good story.

Placed my order today, got an email back from Dave. He said he was building the cab today, and shipping it out today or Monday! Wow!

Now thats speed, if I must say so myself!

And yes, Ill post some prOn.. I think Ill have the first full, vertical stacked, orange tolex 210 rig on TB! :hyper:

When did he start building the cabs? Last thing I heard, some company in Canada built the cabs for them.

And congrats! That's fast regardless! :D

It's a cell phone picture but it's all I've got at my disposal down here in the city.

Seeing it in person is way more impressive. I wish I could hear it. I tried to grab every cable I could imagine needing before I left yesterday. I somehow managed to neglect the power cord that is required to make this beauty sing for me. It looks like I'll be wiring up my pedal board this week instead of testing out the new Avatar and Carvin stack. I was awfully impressed by the BX500 through a single SB112. I'm confident that an additional 12" cab and some more power will only offer even more great tone.

School starts tomorrow. It's back to serious business. :hmm:

Haha. It's a tough stand to beat when you need something cheap and easy to assemble. I hate the small stands that still take an hour to put together. It was nice to finally have something that just screwed into place. It's not the sturdiest thing ever but it's fine for my TV and Xbox 360. ;)

Haha, I put a 32" tv on there and it looked like it was about to implode, but that sucker lasted 5 semesters haha :D, BTW not a bad looking rig either!

I'm about to join the club. I placed my order on Monday. Unfortunately they called yesterday to tell me that they had put the wrong color corners on the cab and wouldn't be able to make a new one and ship it until friday.

Not a bad turnaround, but a bit disappointing.

That's pretty impressive. I'll have to see if I can get mine to endure the rest of my years here at the university. And thank you for your kind words. :)

That is too bad. I've never heard of different colors for the corners, though. At least it doesn't take very long for the cab to get into the region once it does ship. I'm also in the midwest and it took three days from when it was dropped off to when it was sitting in my garage. And FedEX works on Saturdays so if it does ship on Friday then you could probably see it on Tuesday of the following week. :bassist:

As well as the black plastic stacking corners, they now offer the classic metal corners in nickel and black, and they pair them with rubber feet. I could have taken it as-is, but I'm paying enough for the cab that I really want it with the classic nickle corners.

That's pretty cool. You'll have to post some pictures of them once it arrives. I have never even seen that on the site until right now (and only because I was looking for it).

As cool as that will look, I'm quite pleased with my plastic pieces that allow the cabs to stack securely.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for pictures if you decide to post any. :bassist:

I rearranged the cabs so that then Avatar logo is lined up with the ground. I really like having the lettering like that and the ports being located on one side but there's something about them being vertically stacked that looks more appropriate.

i can't get over how good that setup looks. :bassist:

my stack is at home right now and i'm charging my camera, so i'll get some pics up today. :D

I do boost. :atoz:

I love how this stack sounds with a lot of different EQ settings so it changes while I play. It's capable of so many nice tones. I could stand to roll off some of the low end but I play at low enough volume for it to not be much of a problem yet. I have yet to try it out with my headphones so that will also require a lot of adjustment.

Thank you for the comment on my Carvin and Avatar rig! I'm looking forward to seeing your stack, too. :cool:

user fdeck did a response test on the gk backline series and found flat to be:
-3 bass
-1 low mid
+1 hi-mid
-2 treble

don't know how close the RB series is to the backline, but that's about where i set my controls. (usually the bass and treble are a little higher than this pic, and i vary the boost and presence). occasionally i change a little EQ, but with this setup, i get a really fat, clear, non-muddy sound. it sounds great in the mix and i get a compliment on my sound just about every time we play. i keep the tweeter on my top cab about 25% and that's plenty for me, i even roll off most the treble on my stingray (and everything else flat)

I got a neo b210 to replace a blown SWR Goliath jr. Never liked the SWR, no bottom at all. figured the Avatar would make a good practice cab for my jazz band. It was cheap, no expectations that it would sound all that good.

I was very pleasantly surprised, I'd use it on gigs without hesitation. Very good sound, lots of output.
