Double Bass Avatar SB112 NEO?

I haven't played the neo 1X12, but i do own one of their 2X12s from a few years back. Totally killer sound. I think with the right preamp, the 1X12 would sound awesome. I'm a big fan of Avatar cabs. Over the course of highschool through now-i've owned 3 of them. Sold 2 off when i was getting ready for school......no real need for a monster rig anymore.

Any other opinions on Avatar cabs for DB? I'm thinking about going to a head + cab configuration, using the GK BL600 & an Avatar 112 cab. From what I've read, Aguilar cabs are better (or more favored at least) but the price on the Avatars falls into my range better, and for better or worse, I can't spend too much...
I bought two 2-10 avatar neo cabs recently, and I absolutely love them. I will rarely need to use them both. They sound great and I am certain that they will last a very long time.
I plan to pick up a 1-12 neo also, for small gigs.
I think they are hard to beat, for the price. They are very lightweight, tough, use good components & materials, handle tons of power and sound very good.
Sure, there are better sounding "audiophile" type cabs out there, at 3 times the price.

I looked at a friend's Avatar SB112 NEO, and it is quite large and heavy (almost 40 lbs) for a 1x12 box. It was just way too much of a hulk for me to want to move around, and I also thought the sound of the SB112 NEO was much more appropriate for bass guitar.
I use the SB112 with my GK 800RB and I get a pretty good sound out of it. Nice balanced sound from low end to midrange, and midrange to high end. The only flaw is that it does not handle great at high volume. But in a low to medium volume setting it is great. I would find it hard to believe that there is a better sounding 1x12 in its price range. It is a bit bulky and heavy for a 12, but the size probably helps give the cabinet a fuller sound. I have heard that super compact 12's do not offer enough low end, which is not a problem with the SB112.
I don't think 39lbs qualifies as "heavy" when you can pick it up with one hand. These Avatar cabs are the lightest cabs I have ever used. It wasn't very long ago that ALL bass cabs were pretty much monsters to move. I think we bass players may be getting a bit spoiled.
For working Joe musicans (like me) who don't have a ton of money, the Avatar cabs are very hard to beat. Their sound quality is amazing for the price, "almost" as good as high-end neo cabs costing many times more. Also, the company is very cool to deal with, great customer support, and you can get really cool custom colors and coverings.
I will be an Avatar customer for years to come.

I have an Avatar neo 4 ohm 1-12 that I use for loud gigs. It does the job fine, but I have never been totally satisfied, then again I never really am. My impression is that it's great for the money, but the higher end cabs out there might be better suited for the DB specifically. It just doesn't seem even across the range, nor does it put out a particularly well defined sound... but there are so many variables. And Gearhead is right about the money part: on my budget it is/was perfect.
oh yes, I use an old RB- 700 too, and it definitely gets the volume up there to a usable range in loud situations.

I have the older cb 112.
I have always liked it as a stand alone cab....
However it is generally to large/ heavy for upright Bass.
Of course the neo would change that..
I recently purchased the neo 12" 4 ohm speaker that comes with the sb112 cab.
and installed it in a bergantino ht112 and removed the tweeter.
it is down to around 27 lbs
As a stand alone it works great with the electric .
I have used it a couple times with upright ....
and have not quite formed a final opinion .......
I am using a Claurus ii amp with it
