average shipping dimensions

Good day!
Does anyone have a generic set of dimensions they use for estimating ballpark shipping rates, assuming the presence of a bass, a gig bag, packing material, and appropriately-sized box? I welcome figures for both standard and short scales.

I recently shipped a bass in a hard shell case using a Reverb guitar box. They're designed to fit most basses, guitars, or keyboards in a hard shell case, but a gig bag would work too (just be extra careful with packing). Here's the info:

Note - I pack with a lot of packing material around the hard shell case - bubble wrap, packing paper, the whole 9 yards. You can probably get that weight down quite a bit, especially if you're just using a gig bag. Again, you have to be really careful if you're only shipping in a gig bag.

This was a standard 34" scale Fender-style bass.

Dimensions (inches), rounded up:
  • L - 52"
  • W - 21"
  • D - 11"
Weight:
  • 32 lbs
