I can see the holes from the pickguard screws. Doesn't appeal to me.

Well, i've seen the original color they use. It's a dark brown stain, plus there's a dark brown pickguard.Excellent. One less competitor.

So you're suspecting modifications have happened to the bass?
As is, it reminds me of my first bass, an ibanez '79 rs900tv, albeit in a lighter color (and different bridge, etc.). I don't think I'd bother putting a pickguard back on, truth be told.

Really? Looks like the standard "AM" amber finish to me... Whatever the case may be, it's beautiful!
I think that’s the original finish (which is beautiful, btw).
