Febs, this has been my experience, also. At one of our local shops, they have about 8 basses total, none of which have action lower than 1 cm @ the 12th fret. Not surprisingly, those some eight basses have been there for over a year...

Though it is nice to see how a bass is going to hold up. If it can survive the abuse of a GC for over a year, then I'm sure it would hold up for a lifetime of gigging.

It could have that the day it arrived at the store

If cables (or anything else in your chain) are that important, it would ,ake sense to take them witrh you to the store.

I'm lucky in that I can recognize a nice instrument even through gear that I normally wouldn't use.

I'm not going to respond to insults or personal attacks. Trolling is defined by Talkbass as "making inflammatory posts simply to get people riled up, while lacking in substance pertaining to the thread topic." Whether you want to call it trolling or hijacking or whatever else, this thread is about my personal experience at Cintioli's Music in Philly, not about whether people can hear the difference between cables or not. I admit that I am guilty of falling into your trolling trap by responding to your tangential posts; however, I'm reporting your post to the mods because your "put up or shut up" statement is not within the confines of friendly discussion.

If you want this thread to remain unlocked so that you can see what happens as far as the forthcoming controlled test, I encourage you to post with more maturity in the future.

Dave, it's no personal attack. It's a factual observation based on my experience.

Good luck with your testing. I am truly looking forward to hearing all about it. I think Randi is a Great Hero of Logic but if someone can claim the $million and along with that prove what was before thought to be impossible is actually fact then I'm a huge fan of that too and I'm giddy with the possibilities beyond that - laws of physics don't get overturned very often but it can happen ... only via proper testing/observation though.

If you accomplish it, I'll be first in line to apologize. And further if you then go through with our deal per this thread of giving 5% to charity, you can send me a .jpg of your bare butt and I'll send you a .jpg of me kissing it with my permission to post it anywhere you please.

In the meantime, you still haven't explained how those passive Monster Bass Cables "allow up to 6 dB of low-end (40-80 Hz) more than cheapies to flow through".

Speaking of maturity, it seems to me that after making claims like that and being asked repeatedly to back them up the mature thing would be to respond, but if you don't know the answer maybe your brother who sells "audiophile" gear can answer it? Not trolling here, I'd really like to know as I'm sure many others would too.
