I am in on the War band wagon. Cisco Kid gets cranked any time I hear it.
I saw him around that same time and he was using a P bass. Sylvester "Papa D Allen and my dad were class mates in collegeI'm pretty sure he used Fenders most of the time. When I saw him live back in the seventies, he had a Fender (I can't remember which one.) BB Dickerson is special to me because the very first bassline i ever learned was one of his, "Heartbeat," from Why Can't We Be Friends?
War's probably my favorite 70's soul band. Amazing songs, crazy good playing, and the combination of harp and sax is the best! And while I'm a fan of Pancho Thomaselli who plays in the band allowed to be called "War," I'd rather see the Lowrider Band any day of the week![]()
