So my bass head is supposedly 1000 watts, and the cab (810 svte) says that it only runs a maximum of 800 watts. Would it be safe to use my head with this cab? I'm pretty new to cabs and heads, so any information on this will help.

B4R head paired with an Ampeg 810 svte

I assume that's 1000 watts in bridge mode,eh? I wouldnt think yould need all that, you may be fine with just using one side but who's to say. Either way, I'm sure the cab will be fine, I would imagine you'll get what you need long before all 1000 watts get used. Should be a monster of a rig!

Yeah, this is what I've noticed after reading through the manual...1350 Watts Mono-Bridged @ 4 Ohms (1000 Watts Continuous) 840 Watts Mono-Bridged @ 8 Ohms (680 Watts Continuous)...But would I be using 8 ohms or 4?
I don't own an 810 but I would assume that it's 4 ohms. Make sure you look closely at the rear panel of the amp in order to use the bridge function correctly, you may need a 1+/2+ wired 4 pole speakon, my svt4 needs one.
4 ohm input for all speakers. 8 ohm input for either the bottom half or the top half of the 810e. Mono bridging is perfectly safe. If you hear weird popping sounds, speaker farting or any other unpleasant speaker sounds, reduce your low end content and/or the volume IMMEDIATELY.
As BasturdBlaster stated, you will have to rewire one end of a speakon cable to do the mono bridging correctly. Here are links to both manuals if you have not already looked at them. Re-read them a few times and let us know if you are confused about something. The mono bridged cable mystified me too when I first read it.

I play that exact setup I just go out from one of the speaker outs into the 8x10 cab its fine,,,, I never used the bridged option never heard of anyone who ever did.
I used an svt4pro and 810e cab as back line before (same power amp as b4r). It was warped tour and the soundguys had me crank it up instead of putting bass through the PA. Not to mention just about every other band on that stage used it as well. It handled the abuse just fine
I've mono bridged my B4r on a Classic Series SVT-810E in the past with zero problems. From what I've gathered over the years of owning this head, utilizing near the 1000W Max mark is more achievable when it's Bi-Amped but again that's just my experience as a player and from what my repair guys have stated. You should be perfectly fine unless there is an issue with the head.
I've since switched over to bi-amping between an Ampeg Classic series SVT-410HLF and Classic Series SVT-15EN. I initially had a problem with over loading the 4x10" to the point where there would be a glow (like a flashlight) coming through the speaker cones but I swiftly sorted that out. Never had an issue with the 15" cab.
I do have intermittent problems where my sound cuts out for a couple seconds from time-to-time especially when using my SansAmp Bass Driver DI or Way Huge Swollen Pickle WHE 401 but it's manageable. I have had my rig serviced several times by two different and trusted repair guys and they both chalked it up to dirty contacts.
But anyways; in my experience, the B4R can easily handle a 8x10" cab.
