Double Bass Baby Bass strings afterlenght

I would like to know if it is a good idea to install Perpetual strings on my Sendel Baby Bass even if the afterlenght is around 6 inches and goes over the bridge with the plastic/nylon winding;the ideal strings would be less than 5 inches but I cannot seem to find sets except Labella,D'Addario and some arco Pirastro. Thank you!

they'll be too long. I installed them on a 5/8ths shen and the E string wrapped around the peg a bunch of times.

Hello
Thank you for the reply and sorry for the delay.
Could I ask you then what strings are you using on the Baby Bass and if you had to shave the silk at the bridge? And since I am new to the double bass,I would like to understand why it is wrong to wrap a string around the peg, like for guitar or bass guitar. Thanks again
