Back from the dead

Greetings,

I am 50 and started playing bass when I was 14. 20 years ago, I put it down and didn't play a bass last week. I picked one up at a store and my brain remembered, but my hands are pretty spastic and feel like they woke up from a coma. I'm currently trying to decide between a Jackson JS3 or an Epiphone T-bird pro IV. I am so far behind equipment it's unbelievable. Next, need a decent amp. probably Ampeg or GK. I have owned BC Rich NJ series, Dean, Ibanez and Fender P bass. Well hope to learn what I've missed out on the last 20 years and look forward to relearning how to play.

Welcome back. The Internet is now full of helpful "stuff". For some help with where the notes are and how to get your hands and fingers moving to them I'd recommend the getting started sticky in the General Instruction section. How to get started?

Just was looking at new equipment at guitar center. Got to practice for an hour and actually tried a 5 string bass. That was completely alien to me. Have a bid on a Jackson on ebay, and considering an 1997 Trace Elliot combo amp. Just need practice and saw the ask an expert section here, so was starting to look for tips to get my dexterity going. Sure it is just reusing finger muscles not in shape.
